It also reflects to that writer, what he/she did not do. Analysing further, one finds out why one could not/ did not do it differently. All in all, it makes sense, the writer changes the direction, slows down a lot, takes more stops to reach the destination. Even the destination could be different. This is just one powerful bright light at a baseball game.
